In 60 minutes

You'll leave knowing three things.

1

Whether you already qualify

Not in theory: you, personally, checked against the entry requirement for CEng.

2

How CEng actually works

One report, one interview, typically 3 to 9 months, all remote. And BEM's Route B: who it is for, and the conditions BEM sets.

3

Why good engineers get refused

Panels rarely fail engineers on knowledge. You'll see the half of the standard nobody writes down, and how to evidence it.

5/5

Plus a live 5-point readiness check

At the end, five questions. You'll know that night whether you're ready, before you've paid anyone anything.

Hj. Mazlee Md. Ramli

CEng · CMarEng · CMarTech · CMgr · FIMarEST · FCMI

Chartered across engineering and management, Fellow of two institutions, and former Group General Manager of Kulim Hi-Tech Park. For years his job was hiring and promoting engineers, the same judgement a professional review panel uses. He has taken more than 300 engineers through the programme over seven years.

How it runsIn a cohort: a two-hour group session, then guidance on your report through to the interview.

Is this for you?

Built for practising engineers.

It's for you if

  • You have an engineering, technical or management degree
  • You've been practising five years or more, including managers, lecturers and researchers
  • You want CEng and, if you're in Malaysia and eligible, a route on to Ir. after it, without a classroom programme
  • You manage engineers and want your team registered

It's probably not for you if

  • You graduated in the last couple of years: come back later
  • You hold a diploma only: the right first step is EngTech or IEng, and we'll happily point you there
  • You want a general engineering course: this is about registration, not teaching engineering

Questions

Before you register.

Is it really free?

Yes. No card, no catch at registration.

Will you be selling something?

Yes, and we'd rather tell you now. The first 45 minutes are the route, the standard and the readiness check, and they're useful whether or not you ever work with us. At the end, Hj. Mazlee explains how his mentored programme works for those who qualify. You're under no obligation, and if you don't qualify he'll tell you so.

Will there be a replay?

No. The session is live only: the readiness check and Q&A happen on the night, so please join from a laptop if you can.

Do I need to prepare anything?

Just a pen and roughly how many years you've been practising. Join from a laptop if possible, as there's a live exercise.

Is CEng the same as Ir.?

No, they're separate registrations. CEng is awarded by a UK licensed institution; Ir. is registered by the Board of Engineers Malaysia. BEM's Route B is for Graduate Engineers who hold a professional qualification the Board considers equivalent. It is assessed on the Code of Professional Conduct (Registration of Engineers Act 1967, the 1990 Regulations, BEM circulars and common law). To sit it, you must be registered with BEM as a Graduate Engineer with three years' practical experience. BEM decides equivalence; we check your eligibility with you before you pay.

I'm registering for my team. Anything different?

Choose "My team" on the form. Hj. Mazlee will reach out about a free briefing at your office for the engineers you'd consider sponsoring.
